Hello there, welcome to my blog. I've decided to title it after my name, Simonette. At first I thought this could come across as self absorbed, I thought maybe I should go for something more general, or related to the theme of this blog. But after a bit of thought I felt that my name best represented what this blog will be. This blog definitely isn't going to be a 'look at me' kind of blog, but rather I hope, a place where I can share my thoughts, inspirations and things I create. This blog will kind of be a way for me to put all my thoughts and ideas into one place. Apologies in advance, this post is going to be all over the place, I promise future posts won't be this much of a mess.

I originally thought I wanted to do something solely fashion based, as I've always loved clothes and putting outfits together. However, I didn't want to ever limit myself creatively, so I will post anything and everything. Get ready for lots of photos and outfits and music and lists of things that inspire me.

Okay, so now that I've blabbed on about practically nothing, I should probably introduce myself. I'm 100% sure there will only be about 3 people reading this blog. But that is more than okay with me, it's kind of comforting actually. I've never really been one to put myself out there, but hiding behind a computer screen kind of helps. So onto the actual introduction, my name is Simonette, I'm 19, I'm a biomedical science student with absolutely no intentions of studying medicine (don't tell me this is stupid, I am well aware.), and I spend way too much of my time on instagram or with my cats.

By now I'm sure you've already noticed that the photos in this post have nothing to do with what I'm actually writing. This will most likely be a recurring theme throughout my posts on this blog, I hope this is okay. I think I might include some photos now that actually have something to do with what I'm writing, and those photos are none other than screenshots of my tumblr archives. What better way to introduce my blog than to go back to where it all started, right?

According to my tumblr archive, I have posts from way back in 2012. I know I had more before that, but I bulk deleted them because they were the cringiest posts ever. My first tumblr url was 'ily-crazycatlady'.. need I say more? In 2012 I was in year 9, a 13 year old with an obsession with tumblr. My aesthetic back then was very much tropical, there was no shortage of bright colours (see above) and 90% of my wardrobe was purchased from surf shops, because obviously that was the coolest place to get clothes. If it wasn't Roxy or Ripcurl I didn't want it. I wish I had some photos from the time to share with you. But unfortunately all I have is this one from when I was about 5 years old, posing in front of a shark. You're welcome.

Fast track to 2014 and my aesthetic was much more.. gothic? I don't know what the word is. But basically, if the aesthetic of the Windsor Smith Lily sandals has a name, that was it. This is also around the time I had my first instagram account, which actually did alright, at one stage reaching about 5k followers. I got sick of it in year 12, and decided to delete my account to 'focus on my studies' (idiot). But still continued to have a love for clothes and fashion. My personal style was very monochromatic, I wouldn't be seen dead in colour at this stage, and my everyday outfits were some variation of windsor smith shoes, ripped jeans and occasionally some faux fur.

Now here we are. In 2018, I'm in my second year of uni. I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. Since 2012, my hobbies have changed, my friends have changed, but my love of fashion and being creative certainly hasn't. If anything, it's stronger than ever. Ultimately I've been wanting to create a proper blog all this time. So why now? Over the past year I've gained so much more confidence in front of the camera. I've always loved being behind it. But actually just going out and taking photos, although super uncomfortable and awkward the first few times, has helped so much. I guess 'fake it 'til you make it' is a cliche for a reason. My fingers are tired, so that must be a sign I've written far too much.

I hope you've enjoyed this post, and you're ready for everything this blog will offer. If you actually made it to the end of the post, I am really impressed.

Until next time, Sim x
