Hello lovelies, welcome back to the blog

Today's blog post is something a bit different! I recently thrifted this gorgeous white silky dress which had marylin monroe written all over it (pictured below), so I just HAD to recreate some photos of the iconic queen herself.

I love how effortlessly chic and beautiful marylin is, and there's good reason that to this day, she's still such an icon.

I think the most difficult part of recreating these photos was doing my hair. Now, I'm definitely not the most talented individual when it comes to hair and makeup, but luckily my little sister came to the rescue and curled my hair for me. It didn't sit as perfectly as marylin's did, but for me, a mere mortal, it was the best I could manage.

The first set of photos, pictured above, are some of my favourites, so simple but chic and I love how confident and powerful she looks. I had trouble nailing her expression in a lot of these photos, but I think they turned out pretty cool nonetheless!!

The second set of photos, featuring this gorgeous white dress that sparked this blog post idea in the first place... were not the best. Probably my least favourite of the bunch to be honest, it was so difficult to get her post right and in comparison to the queen herself, it's looking like a little bit of an expectations vs reality situation.

i. love. these. photos. The next lot of photos (pictured above) are definitely my favourites! Once again, the expression isn't the most accurate, but I love the background, colours and composition. So lovelyyyyy! Not too sure how Marylin would have felt about the green nail polish though.. what do we think?

Last but not least.. The photo above was SO difficult to recreate. Despite Marylin looking oh so effortlessly chic, this pose is the most awkward thing I've ever done. I literally physically had to strain my whole body to keep this position haha. But it turned out okay!!

Thanks for reading today's post. I actually thought this project was really fun. I see a lot of people on youtube 'recreating' other people's photos and talking about how difficult it is, and I wanted to try it for myself.. They're not wrong. It's hard, but also really puts into perspective the amount of energy put into a photo and that it's a lot of work getting the right pose, lighting and angles to make someone look really good!!

Until next time, Sim xx
