Between seasons

I have such a love hate relationship at this time of year. Half of me wants to just be able to wear knits, boots and coats everyday, and the other half of me wants the warmer weather to stick around as long as possible.
I also seem to get into such a style rut in between seasons. At the moment we are having some beautiful sunny days, but also some miserable rainy days. This makes it so hard to have a consistent style. It's not summer style, but it also isn't winter style. It's somewhere in between, and finding this balance can be difficult. The key to being prepared for any weather is definitely layering. I love a layered look and it's the perfect way to bring more summer appropriate clothes into the warmer months. Layer thinner tops underneath thick coats and t-shirts under dresses. Try to add different textures into a layered look to help add some dimension. I love the mohair-esque texture to the coat I've styled in this post.
Another one of my favourites is to pair more wintery pieces with more summery ones. In this look I have taken two quite summery pieces; this gingham shirt, and this beaded bag, and transformed them into a cold-weather appropriate outfit. Instead of pairing these pieces with a white denim skirt, cross over slides and sunnies, I'm wearing my favourite wide leg trousers and a camel coat for warmth. Another tip is to pair boots with skirts and dresses, it's such an effortlessly cool look, whilst also being super practical for in between seasons.
Try to find pieces that can work equally as well for all kinds of weather. These slip on loafers are the perfect in example of this, and they make trans seasonal dressing super effortless.
I'm going to leave this post here, I am trying to keep a bit of balance between some rambly posts and some shorter ones! Until next time, Sim x
