Travelling alone

I really enjoy my own company. So it’s no surprise that the concept of travelling alone is very appealing to me. I’ve never actually travelled somewhere new completely alone. I’ve always been with at least one other person.
My lil mini 4 day stay in Sydney gave me a taste of what it would be like to travel alone. I really enjoyed the freedom. I could do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. There were no compromises, no contemplating.
I stayed in an airbnb near Paddington. I chose to stay here opposed to a hotel, firstly, because it’s cheaper, and secondly because I find it so much more homey, and you’re not right in the middle of the city, sometimes it’s nice to be a bit out of the way.
Whenever I’ve stayed in airbnb’s in the past it’s usually a second property someone owns solely for the purpose of renting it out. This time around was a little bit different. The place I stayed in was someone’s home, which was a weird but cool experience. Seeing the way someone organises their place, and chooses to decorate it says a lot about them, and that’s what I found really interesting about this experience. Getting a glimpse into the life of a total stranger.
I did really love the place though. I chose it for the abundance of natural light and the fact that it was filled with plants (high up on the priority list).
I think everyone should travel alone at some stage. It’s kind of daunting, but very refreshing at the same time. I mean an hour on a plane and 3 nights away is hardly ‘travelling’. But I’d love to do more of it in the future. I think it’s such a good way to see places and do the things you want to do without having to worry about other people!
That’s all from me today! Until next time, Sim xx
