The very last of my 'exploring Sydney' series. I thought I'd do a little post based around where I spent the most time. Art Galleries. I've always loves art galleries, every since I was young. They're always so fun and different. The experience of being in a gallery has always been one of my favourites. I love being able to see all these different interpretations of the world. Not to mention it is such a peaceful space.
Upon my arrival in Sydney, I headed straight for The Museum of Contemporary Art on Sydney harbour. Such a gorgeous gallery with some really amazing artworks. Unfortunately one of the exhibition rooms was closed when I went, but the rest of the gallery was still gorgeous! The building itself is so beautiful, and I love that there are more, well, contemporary works (go figure). I think my favourite kind of artworks are abstract or basically just any work that is super open to interpretation, I find it super interesting that everyone can interpret exactly the same thing in an entirely different way!
This leads me nicely on to my next point of discussion. I also payed a little visit to the National Gallery of NSW, they were holding an exhibition of the Archibald Prize entrants. So cool to see! One of the stand out artists was of course Del Kathryn Barton and it was such a treat to see her works in the flesh.
Art is one of my favourite things and I love that it's such a universal thing all over the world, no matter where you come from or who you are, I feel like there's always going to be an appreciation for some type of art, whether it be true to your culture or just a creative expression.
Anyway, enough blabbing on Sim, we get it, you like art.
I shall leave you with some photos of my favourite pieces and the gorgeous gallery architecture.
Until next time, Sim xx
