I'm sure that we all have some kind of 'uniform' or base outfit which is a go to for those times when we just 'don't have anything to wear'. I know I sure do. If in doubt there are always a select few items that will be brought out to get me through these kinds of situations. These are also the same few items that survive every single closet purge.Today's blog post I'm going to be talking you through my most worn items in my wardrobe, and the reasons behind how they managed to make it into this list.
#1 The Denim Jacket
A cult classic, something that can be incorporated into any and every wardrobe no matter what your personal style. I currently own 3 denim jackets, a black one, a slightly more fitted one (pictured here) and an oversized one. I've worn denim jackets religiously for the better part of at least 5 years and I never get bored of them. I love a blue denim as I often wear quite muted minimal outfits and it's nice to break it up a little with some denim! Denim jackets are also perfect to take you through any and every season. I'll layer them over knits, under coats, or over a cute mini dress in the summer, talk about a wardrobe staple!
#2 The White Tee
Once again, something I'm sure we all own. But I honestly find myself wearing them so often. They can be dressed up, dressed down, worn out for lunch, or out for dinner. They go with absolutely any colour and any bottoms that you pair them with, a skirt, trousers, jeans, shorts, the list goes on... I love a more fitted white tee, but I need the sleeves to be more of a boxy fit. A high neck is preferable but I also don't mind a v neck every now and then for something a bit different. I always get super conflicted when it comes to basic white tees. I have some that I've owned for years and years, and some that are thrifted and are great quality. Would a white tee be something to invest in though?? (say a cdg or Acne one) or is it stupid to pay way more for something just because it's branded? I don't know, maybe one day I'll take the plunge, but for now, my $3 thrift store tees will do me just fine.
#3 The Wide Leg Trousers
So universally flattering, and the definition of versatile. They honestly feel like I'm wearing PJ's, but this cut of trousers can be worn to an event or to the supermarket and will not look out of place for either occasion. I have multiple black pairs but would love to add a crisp white pair to the collection! I prefer a high waist and a slightly cropped leg. Although super long ones look really cool also! I always feel super confident in this cut of pants and they are also my go to for events as I know they will look good and I will be super comfortable, which are always important things to think about when I'm required to leave my house.
#4 The White Sneaker
Once again, SO COMFY. They pair beautifully with anything and are another time which will take you seamlessly from season to season. Literally any outfit you can think of will go with a pair of white sneakers, plus they are so easy to wear. Perfect for when I park 10 mins away from uni because I refuse to pay for parking ahahah.
#5 The Statement Accessories
Anything with some texture, and interesting shape or a unique design element is right up my street. I love accessories and honestly can't get enough of them! Once again, as my wardrobe is so simple and minimal, accessories make all the difference! I have countless sunnies and bags and they all make my outfits look 10X more put together than they would otherwise. This is also my favourite way to explore trends as you can often find them for super inexpensive!
Thank you so much for reading lovelies! Until next time, Sim xx
