I can't believe it's already been a month since my last 'on repeat' post. This year is going way too quickly, I can't even deal with it. Anyway, I'm back again with another music post, because I really enjoyed writing the last one. Still not sure if anyone could actually care less about what music I'm listening to, but I hope at least someone maybe discovers some new music. And if not, I think I'm really going to enjoy looking back on these posts and rediscovering music I was loving. I tend to associate music with certain memories and times of my life, so this will be a way to kind of remind myself of july 2018 I guess.
Enough ramble, let's get into it.

#1 Roy Pablo - Boy Pablo
Released May 2017, this indie-poprock EP is such a breath of fresh air. So easy to listen to, I'm obsessed. This band is led by Nicholas Pablo Munoz, a singer-singwriter from Norway. (thank you Wikipedia). I don't really know what else to say, but if you haven't given any of his work a listen, you definitely should!
Best tracks:
- Dance, Baby!
- Ur Phone
- Ready / Problems

#2 Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life - The Wombats
Okay, so this album AND every single previous wombats album has been well and truly on repeat this month. This is definitely because I went to see them live in mid July. Naturally, I had to listen to them non stop during the lead up to the concert, and then for at least 2 weeks afterwards just to reminisce. Does anyone else do that?? No, just me? Cool. (For exactly the same reason I've also been listening to The Preatures non-stop this month.)
But seriously. The Wombats are such a classic. The band was formed in Liverpool in 2003. If you haven't heard any of their tunes, firstly, what
are you doing??, secondly, I'm 99% sure you've at least heard 'Tokyo' before! (It was even better live, just saying.... ). Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life is their most recent album, and it is just as good, if not better than their previous albums, I am in love, and the album art is also really amazing.
Best tracks:
- Lethal Combination
- Cheetah Tongue
- I Only Wear Black

#3 Spring - EP - Wallows
This EP by Los Angeles based alternative rock band Wallows is everything I could ask for in an EP and more. It only came out April of 2018, and I was hooked from the first song I heard, it is so so good. Perfect mix of chill and upbeat, if that even exists??? That is probably the worst possible explanation I could give, but trust me, this EP is so good!!! (album art is pretty cute also). Spring is literally the most perfect name for it, the music reminds me of sunshine and flowers.
Best Tracks
- These Days
- Ground
- Pictures of Girls

#4 Wrapped in Plastic - Candy
Okay so I really love this band. I'll give you a bit of a backstory, I went to see Middle Kids at Howler in Melbourne, their support act was Tram Cops (also AMAZING). I was so in love with Tram Cops that I went to go see another one of their gigs at the Gasometer Upstairs, also in Melbourne. (Can you guess that they're a Melbourne based band??) Tram Cops were actually supporting Candy, who were the main act. I hadn't heard of them before this gig, but was instantly in love. The first song I heard from them was 'Apartment in the City' *Not on this particular album, but still so good!*. This album is from 2017, it's made up of 8 songs worth of indie-pop goodness!
Best tracks
- Without a Care
- Stay the Same
- Talk to You

#5 Yellow and Such - EP - Gus Dapperton
Both EP's by Gus Dapperton are so amazing!! They each consist of 4 songs. Which are all so refreshingly unique, I cannot stop listening!! 'Yellow and Such' was released in 2017 by the New York based singer-songwriter. His second EP 'You Think You're a Comic!" was released this year. He has cited the likes of King Krule, Mac DeMarco, The Beatles, The Smiths and a few others as influences for his music, which I think there are definitely elements of all of these artists throughout his music, but it is very much his own, which I love!
Best tracks (from both EP's)
- I'm Just Snacking
- Miss Glum & the Pursuit of Falling
- Prune, You Talk Funny
That's all I have for you this month!! Hope you have enjoyed, stay tuned, I'm going to be doing this little music posts monthly if I can!
Until next time, Sim xx
