a vintage revival

Hello beautiful people, welcome back to another blog post aka. me sharing some random thoughts that pop into my head from time to time.
Today's post was inspired by these photos I took at my best friends house, which is where I'm currently staying. Her parents have the most beautiful place filled with gorgeous things. I am obsessed with this peachy velvet dream of an armchair and this equally as dreamy vintage phone. I couldn't resist a photoshoot with them. I am absolutely obsessed with how these photos turned out. I added some chunky gold earrings and this vintage silky dress that I thrifted recently and I feel like it all came together exactly how I imagined, which is literally the best feeling ever!

Because I love how these photos turned out, and they're quite different to my usual content, which most often gears toward very minimal, leafy, and outdoorsy compared to the warm, more colourful tones in these images. It made me think about how I've been so inspired by everything and everything vintage as of late. Old movies, old music, film cameras, vintage clothing, vintage silhouettes, vintage interiors, everything. I'm definitely not alone in sudden obsession either. I've seen countless of my favourite influencers creating gorgeous vintage inspired content, and wearing the most beautiful vintage clothing. I think it's such a win win aesthetic for everyone though. Recycling as much as we can instead of creating and consuming new things all the time is amazing for the environment, our bank accounts, and there's something super chic and nostalgic about it all.
This train of thought led me down a path of obsessively creating pinterest boards, reblogging tumblr posts and scouring the archives of my Vogue Runway app to obtain all of the vintage inspiration I could possibly get my hands on. (take a shot every time the word 'vintage' appears in this post, actually, on second thought, please don't)
A few of my favourite 'vintage'(there it is again) trends, that I personally am going to be implementing more into my wardrobe are;
• an endless supply of denim, in all shades, oversized and high waisted is preferable.
• kitten heels, something I never imagined myself wearing, but they can actually look incredibly chic (and comfy)
• Square necklines, one of my absolute favourite vintage inspired silhouettes, I feel so confident and comfortable wearing anything featuring this neckline.
• animal print, of all kinds.
• sunglasses which are either super skinny or ridiculously oversized.
• sheer black tights
• pearls, diamonds, gold. It's all in the details

I hope you have enjoyed today's post and you've found some form of inspiration, even if it's just to explore different styles throughout the decades or test out a new silhouette. Fashion is, and should be, a fun way of expressing yourself. My style is ever changing and evolving and I will never say no to new (or old) sources of inspiration. You can never be too inspired.
Until next time, Sim xx
