May goals & inspirations

Today's blog post is a bit all over the place. I really wasn't too sure what I wanted to write about. But it's the start of a new month and I thought it would be fitting to set some monthly goals as well as share with you some of the things that have been keeping me inspired as of late.

First thing's first, let's set some goals...

I have been finding so much inspiration from nature in the recent weeks and I find that fresh air and some beautiful scenery really does wonders in making me feel refreshed and at ease. I hope to spend a lot more time in beautiful places this month; whether that be the beach, a waterfall or the river.

I have never been one to prioritise physical activity in my life. I am one of the most uncoordinated people and any time I attempt anything of the sort, more times than not, it will result in physical injury.

My best friend has been helping me in the gym lately and I have been going on regular walks. After only a couple of weeks I can already see an improvement in the way my body and mind feel. I think that it's an important for me to ensure I'm making time to take care of my body as (shock horror) it really does make such a difference.

Painting and reading are two other activities which I find a lot of joy and serenity in. They are the perfect distraction for my overactive mind, and a great way to allow myself to slow down and relax. I must also ensure that I am scheduling time for these things, they are so important.

Another major source of inspiration for me has been the music I've been listening to lately. I thought I would share a playlist of favourite songs for the month in this post.

Instagram, as it is for many of us, is probably the number one place that I find myself feeling so incredibly inspired. There are so many amazing creative souls on the platform. I have definitely been drawn to more nature inspired colours, tones and silhouettes and the 'editorial-esque' vibe a lot of my favourite creators are adapting. Below is a collage of some of my favourite recently saved images, to help you visualise what I'm blabbing on about.

Aside from the obvious places to find fashion and lifestyle inspiration such as Pinterest, YouTube and the aforementioned Instagram.. I have been loving finding new styling/photoshoot ideas and exploring new aesthetics inspired by films and film characters in particular. One that stands out to me for the unique, vintage and effortlessly chic vibe is Wes Anderson's brain child Margot Tenenbaum. I'm definitely tempted to try out her dead straight lob and try to rock some berets and faux fur. I'd love to do a lookbook based on her in the near future, she is a very interesting character to me and I'd love to further explore her style and aesthetic and adapt it for myself. Once again, here is a lovely collage to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, because if you are yet to see The Royal Tenenbaums, you are most likely very confused by this paragraph. (side note: do yourself a favour and watch it).

I sincerely hope you have somewhat enjoyed today's brain dump of a post. I hope it has been interesting and helped you to look outside the box for inspiration as well as to try set some monthly goals for yourself!

Thankyou for reading, until next time..

Sim xx
